Investment with a Cause

After more than ten years of successful engagement in conservation enterprise work, the African Wildlife Foundation recognized the need for a new type of conservation finance. Thus, African Wildlife Capital (AWC) offers alternative development financing in the form of structured loans to selected small- and medium-sized conservation enterprises. It is an investment with a cause.

This type of financing supports enterprises with promising business models that are able to assist in the protection of habitat or wildlife populations whilst also benefiting the livelihoods and welfare of the locals. The Capital is intended to take AWF’s work to a brand new scale and use the capacity of Africa’s private sector to do more, in more places, for the benefit of conservation and people.
